There are several types of Stereum Crust Fungi at Rockville. They are all species that cause wood rot and are often found on the underside of branches or on cut or fallen logs. While there are structural differences in the various types, they all spread out in a fairly thin layer on the wood's surface.
This Stereum Crust Fungus is probably Stereum complicatum, which is commonly called Crowded Parchment fungus.
